What the app does

You type or paste text, choose a voice and a speed, and the app turns the text into speech. Your text and your choices stay on your device while this happens.

Information we collect

We collect nothing. The app does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, device identifiers, or usage data. We run no servers for the app, so we have nowhere to receive your data even if we wanted it.

The text-to-speech engine on your phone

StenoDictator uses the text-to-speech engine that is installed on your Android device, such as Google Speech Services or a manufacturer's engine. That engine is separate software with its own privacy policy.

Some voices need an internet connection to work. If you choose one of them, the engine (not StenoDictator) may send your text to its provider. To keep everything on your device, download an offline voice in your phone's text-to-speech settings and select it in the app.

Storage

Anything StenoDictator keeps stays on your device. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes it. If you save or share a file yourself, that file is yours to manage.

Sharing

We don't sell, share, or transfer your data to anyone, because we don't have it.

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Security

Because your data never leaves your device, it is protected by your device's own security, such as your screen lock and storage encryption.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If a future version of the app ever collects data, we will update this policy before that version is released.
